I made this FAQ (Frequently asked questions), not because it is boring to answer several questions that I'm receiving (keep them coming, it is a pleasure to answer) but mostly to spread these informations widely.
The here below questions are those that I received the more often.

| My name is Julien Garnier, I am from Belgiun and retired. I was born in 1946. My native language is French but I'm trying my best to keep this website as well in French as in English.
I started to follow Jacky Ickx's career by going to see him driving at hill climbings. That was great because there was no paddock and anybody could be very close to cars and drivers.
I also followed Jacky Ickx at Zolder and at Spa-Francorchamps and I was at the raidillon of the Eau Rouge when Jacky made such great show at the 1000 km of Spa 1968. It was raining so hard that my girlfriend and I were as wet as a fish can be.
But in November 1968, I got married and I was only able to follow Jacky Ickx's career through the media. I accumulated a huge archive all over those years. Unfortunately, in 1987, my house was flooded by water and I lost most of all those archives. |

Why did you make this website? |

In 1999, I decided to create a Website dedicated to Jacky Ickx by using what I had been able to get back of the disaster. But, as I used to say, it was only a simple gallery of 50 photos and a biography.
Very quick, due to problems of health, this website became static until 2002, when I decided to restart it. My very dear friend Dayse helped me enormously and will always be one of the helps active and motivated of this website. I thank her for it wholeheartedly.
Thus, now this site is active but I still depend on what are sending other Jacky Ickx's fans world wide who visit this website. I always try to rebuild my lost archives but it is very difficult because most of these events are more than 30 years old. |

Yes I am, since October 2002 I am lucky enough to be in contact with Jacky Ickx (see article "I met Mr Ickx").
However, I meet him only rarely and it would be wrong to believe that I know his timetable and that I am his confidant. |

Is this website the offical Jacky Ickx website? |

| Yes we can say so. Mister Ickx knows this website and is very happy about it. Since Jacky is bringing moral support and documentation to it, it can be considered as "Official" but still, this site is not personally linked to Jacky, and therefore it is useless to request autographs, those requests will be ignored.

Is this website updated quit often ? |

| To make an update to this website, I need new stuff to add. Once again, I depend on what visitors are sending or proposing. So if I receive information and/or pictures, I do an update but I don't make update just to add one or two pictures. Anyway, I'm updating this website at least once a month.
But every day I check the Guestbook and comments to see if there is no answer or comments to activate. |

| All the pictures that I have, are presented on this website. I would like to present other pictures but I'm depending on the photos that are kindely send by visitors of this website. Several people promised to send pictures, some did it but I am very thankfull to all the visitors for their past and/or future participation.

| You just have to send them to webmaster@jacky-ickx-fan.net. That email address is linked to my personal address. If you don't have a scanner, you can send me an email and we can manage for sending via post office. All original documents are always mailing back if the owners wish it. I'll pay for mailing back. |

I have pictures of Jacky Ickx that are not on this website and I would like to send them to you. How do I scan them ? What size do you want ? |

| Most of the pictures that are on this website are maximum 800 pixels width and maximum 700 pixels hight. This for two reasons : keep a low file size (kiloBytes) on the website and enabled the photo visible for eveyone.
My advice is to scan a picture at 300 or 600 dpi then to resize it at 800 pixels width (700 pixels height for portrait format). Then save the picture in jpg file format. To me, the best program to make those operations is Adobe Photoshop®.
If you need more advices about picture processing, just drop me a line and I'll be pleased to answer you.

Where all these photos are coming from ? |

Many photos of this website were scanned out of books which belong to me or that I received from my friends.
Some other photos were found on Web and if they were covered by a copyright, I make reference to the website (even sometimes when there is no copyright).
The unpublished photos are my properties. They were taken either by me, or by friends who gave me the right to publish them.
There is also several photos (the majority) that I received from visitors and in that case, I mention their name under the photo with a @ character. As we understand it easily, I was not able to control if a copyright existed or not for these photos.
Finally, an important quantity of photos was giving to me by Jacky Ickx himself and by Catherine Blaton. |

Do you have the right to publish all these documents ? |

First of all, Jacky Ickx authorized me to publish his image while respecting some rules.
For the most part of documents and photos, I have the authorization of their author(s).
For others, I know that I did not ask for the permission to publish them on this website. But this website is not paying, I have no profit and have no sponsor. I finance this website myself. My only purpose is to keep the international image of Jacky Ickx and to give to all his fans, all around the world, the opportunity to see photos or to read texts which were published only in Belgium, France or Europe, or those which are not available any more because of not renewed editions.
Thus in every case, if people considers that I have no right to use their photo(s) or text(s), they just have to send me a simple e-mail and if the demand is justified I shall remove at once photos or documents. |
